I had been using a Proform elliptical for a few years until it started to breakdown. It had a 18 inch stride and provided a good workout. After the Proform started to give me problems I knew it was time to start looking for a new machine. My first inclination was to go with a Schwinn since my parents had a Schwinn recumbent cycle and I had always thought it was a quality product. I read the reviews on the Schwinn 420,430, 431 and the new 460. I live near a Dicks sporting goods and went to see what they had to offer, although they had Schwinn recumbents on the floor, they didn’t have any Schwinn ellipticals to try.

They did have 2 Sole models, the E25 and the E95. Once I stepped on the Sole E25 I felt the quality of the machine, the E95 was even better but at 80+ inches long it was not of interest but the E25 was. The Sole E25 was priced at $950 plus tax. I then started reviewing other similar ellipticals and came upon the Spirit Esprit line which I came to learn was made by the same company that makes Sole.

In my reviewing I discovered that flywheel weight is important, the heavier the better it seems, that’s the thing that gives you the smooth feel, instead of a choppy run where you exert effort on each peddle on each individual stroke. It’s hard to explain until you feel the difference but the flywheel weight makes the difference. Cheap machines don’t mention flywheel weight because they don’t have it.

The Schwinn’s come with a 25 lb flywheel the Sole E25 has a 23 lb flywheel, this machine has a 30 lb flywheel and you can feel it. It takes a little effort to get this thing going, but once you do it wants to just keep going. This provides a boost for those times that you feel like slowing down, this machine pushes you to keep it up, you can slow down on the pace but it takes a few revolutions. I bought the Esprit EL-455 for these reasons:

It is shorter in length than the Sole 95 and the Sole 25
It has a heavier flywheel 30 lb
It has heart rate control with telemetry
Adjustable footpads
Back lit screen
20 inch stride
Custom programs
Made by Spirit who makes Sole machines
Less expensive than similar Sole

The Schwinn 430 may be better but I don’t know since I couldn’t test one. The Schwinn 460 was intreging but as it’s new I wasn’t willing to take a chance. Once you get a 200 lb machine delivered and then assemble it, the last thing you want to do is have to take it apart and send it back.

I’ve only had the Spirit for 1 day so I can’t advise on much beyond assembly but it wasn’t to hard. It took about 2 hours. 30 minuites was cutting the box and unpacking, 30 minuites was trying to feed the electrical wire through the column, I ended up using a coat hanger to push it through. The rest went pretty smooth but I was trying to be careful to do things in order and right because I know that if you screw up the assembly you might never get another chance to get it right.

Upon trying the machine I found it very smooth and quiet as I expected it would be. I went for 20 miniutes and was sweating pretty good. I’m used to going 50 minutes, but then I was already sweating from putting the thing together so I’ll leave the full work out till tomorrow.

Just a note about delivery, I choose to take the free delivery offered by Amazon, total price was $999 no tax no shipping, they notified me a week after my order that the order had been shipped. Once I tracked the order I found that it had already arrived in my town and was ready for delivery, 10 days before Amazon said I should expect it. The delivery man wheeled it up my driveway and placed it in my living room exactly where I wanted to assemble it. The invoice said I had inside delivery included. I was worried I might have to pull it up the driveway myself because I didn’t pay for preimium delivery.

I’ll update in a few weeks after I put the Spirit Esprit EL-455 through it’s paces.

Spirit Esprit EL-455 Update – The machine does not have or use a heart rate strap and can only use the stationary grips for heart rate control programs. As I use a separate heart rate monitor, this is not a problem for me. It does make the heart rate control programs rather useless unless you don’t use the swinging arms and keep your hands on the stationary grips. The machine itself has had a few minor skweeks but they seem to have gone away with use. I did spray a little wd40 on the joints this morning and the machine made very little noise at all. The work out is good, I have set up a program that keeps it on level 3 for 52 minutes. Once I build up some endurance I plan to try some of the programs that vary the level.

Spirit Esprit EL-455 Update 2 – The manufacturer Spirit emailed me and now says the machine does use a heart rate strap they just don’t include it. They suggested I could purchase one from them. As stated before I use a clip on HR monitor so I won’t be trying the strap. After 2 weeks of use I am still very pleased with my purchase, the ride is smooth and quiet a real work out. Still on level 3 but my avg. speed is increasing, got it up to 82 RPM’s briefly today and my HR is staying lower so I’ll need to increase the resistance soon. Haven’t tried the speakers as I use earbuds, so they are really useless to me.

Spirit Esprit EL-455 Update 3 – About a month in I am very pleased with my purchase. The machine is quiet and smooth. I have 2 seperate user programs, one is more aggressive than the other. I use them both depending on how hard I want to go that day. Sometimes I use the easier program one day and then the harder the next. I set a long workout of 52 minuits so the preprograms are not used as they are all 30 minutes. I expect this machine to last many years and I intend to use it at least 3 – 4 days a week for as long as I am able. At 52 I spent most of my life as a couch potato, I am overweight but after six months on an elliptical 4 times a week for an hour, I am wearing clothes I haven’t worn in years. The best part is that I feel good all the time and I have pride in the fact that I have changed my life around. Yes, I dread starting each workout, I think about quitting early every time, but I don’t, I finish, then I feel great the rest of the day.

This is an excellent machine! Better than the LifeFitness machines at the gym.

Easy to assemble – comes with all required tools – though use of a ratchet is recommended for speed. The only “hiccup” with assembly is attaching the pole that holds the display to the main unit – requires a little bit of a wrestling match (a helper would be a good idea here – I was solo). There are only 4 steps in the assembly and the bolts are separated by step. If you have basic “toolbox skills” this is a very easy assembly.

Have them leave it in your garage or by the door if you don’t have any stairs to negotiate. You can cut the box at the bottom and lift up – then move all the parts to the assembly area. This makes for an easy clean-up. The only heavy part is the flywheel – but it is easy to move as it has wheels.

Also, the feet are heavy duty cushioned rubber. It is not necessary to order a Mat. In fact, if you are planning on moving it into position for a workout a Mat would be a waste of money. We have nice hardwoods and I am confident this machine is not going to harm them.

Ordered from Amazon on Friday night for $999 with free shipping. It was delivered on Wednesday. I live in Metro Atlanta and it was shipped from Arkansas. ABF shipping is great. First ring pick-up to a human being to arrange delivery…awesome experience.

The machine is attractive, movable, silent, and heavy duty. It has a great back-lit display panel with an ample rack capable of accommodating a large book (it is positioned so that you can comfortably read while exercising). A storage cubby for MP3 etc. and a nice, properly sized water bottle holder on the pole. There are several workout modes or you can use manual and just go. Resistance is 1-20. 20 is very hard as this is a substantial machine. It tracks calories, speed, and seems to accurately read a pulse. Provides a nice summary at the end of the workout.

It also comes with an MP3 input, a cable that will fit any MP3 player via the headphone jack, and a fairly nice set of speakers. You control the music from the player – there is no complicated interface.

I weigh 210 pounds and my wife is 5’6″ and the machine accommodates either of us perfectly.

A Spirit machine is number 2 on the list of Consumer Reports latest ratings (out of 29). Based upon my exhaustive research and testing, all of the Spirit Machines are basically the same. The number one machine on Consumer Reports retails for $2,600 and this machine is comparable in quality.

If you want to get a feel for the machine…find a local specialty store that sells Spirit (Or Esprit by Spirit – they are the same-it doesn’t matter which model except for the display and the flywheel weight) and check it out. They will not be able to match the deal from Amazon and they have to have it delivered too…so what’s the harm in ordering from Amazon?

I ordered the 455 for the heavier flywheel. Which I recommend.

In summary, I agonized for weeks over this decision. Trust me…this is a great machine and an incredible value. We are going to cancel our gym membership and save $$$. You can’t go wrong.

We were looking for something under a thousand dollars that worked well. Of all the ellipticals that we looked at, we liked Spirit the best. Schwinn was our second choice but we saw Spirit and Schwinn side-by-side in a shop and Schwinn looked a bit cheap and flimsy in front of the Spirit. Reasons why we picked Spirit:

1) It has the heaviest flywheel of all comparable models (30 lbs). That makes it very smooth. Light flywheels can make an elliptical choppy and not fun to exercise on.
2) Dual concave wheels on the rails. Cheaper machines have a single wheel on each rail. This machine has two on each and those wheels are pretty solid. This results in a smoother motion and durability.
3) The elliptical motion does not put too much stress on the lower back. Many of the ellipticals that we tried put too much stress on the lower back as well as at the end of the cycle I would feel a little jerk on the knee. This Spirit does not have any of those issues. Its the smoothest machine of all that we tried.
4) 20 inch stride – It is very important that you buy an elliptical with a stride that feels natural to you. For me 20 inch was more natural and closer to my actual stride.

I ordered this based on the price and the fact that it had a seat as well as the arm bars I read the reviews of more expensive models and had a bit of anxiety towards putting it together. It only took about an hour and as long as you use your own tools and not the dollar store rejects they give you should have no problems.

I am giving this only three stars based on 2 things, First I am 6foot tall and when I use it as an elliptical its a bit tight and I do tend to punch myself a little when it comes back but I solved that by reversing them.

The other reason is also the handles being a little short. It feels like I’m punching downward instead of parallel. This machine is definitely designed for smaller men or women. but, besides that I do get a decent workout on it. Overall if you’re looking for a value I would recommend this.

This is a pretty good little piece of equipment. For the money, you probably can’t beat it. I’ve been using it for a few weeks, and so far so good. Its seems pretty solid. I’m in pretty good shape and this machine will definitely give a good workout. The motion is smooth and there’s not much sway at all (I’m 5’9″, 175 lbs). I like the adjustments to the seat, it gives you a good range. Its also pretty light and rolls easily. All in all, can’t find anything to complain about.

I love this product!! I haven’t exercised for quite awhile. I have degenerative bone disease in my knees and lower back and hip. This has been very easy and low impact on my knees and lower back. It feels to get to exercise again. This was easy to put together and most of it was already done. It was packaged very well and came at the right time as indicated to me. I would recommend this to anybody who needs that low impact type of exercise. I have been using the bicycle part of it and have gone up to twenties minutes already. I am so pleased. This is certainly a wonderful machine!!!!!

This is totally worth buying! The quality is very good and it’s easy to put together. I put it together mostly by myself and I’m a 21yr old female with average strength and it wasn’t too hard. I did have trouble tightening a couple of bolts, but that was the hardest part, and mostly just because of the position of the bolt. Most of the pieces are together already, the pieces that need greasing were already greased. It comes with the tools you need to put it together, and the hardware is separated into what you need for each step, so there’s no digging around looking for the right part.

As far as the elliptical itself, it’s awesome.
*It has an audio input jack and comes with a cord for it, and you can either listen to music on its speakers or plug your headphones into the elliptical itself.
*There’s a spot were you can set your ipod or mp3 player and it also has a little book stand at the bottom of the console display.
*There’s a water bottle holder and it has two smaller side holders where you can set other things like a cell phone or something, which is nice.
*It has a power cord, it doesn’t take batteries like some do.
*It has a fan that has 3 different settings and an option for changing what you’re looking at on the screen, calories burned or distance and time or heart rate. It has a spot that tells you your rate in MPH and also your resistance setting.
*It measures the distance in miles and starts at 0.00 goes up by .01 miles at a time.
*It has some preset programs, but I haven’t used them, I’ve just done it as manual.
*It has 2 options for changing the resistance level: it has + and – buttons, but it also has numbers 1-10 on the sides so you can change resistance quickly.
*It has a really smooth motion, you don’t feel like you’re bouncing that much when you run on it and it’s super quiet! It’s not wobbly and feels really stable and sturdy. The foot pad is pretty big too, which is nice because you have room to find which spot is most comfortable.

The only thing I don’t love about it is that when you start using it, it beeps pretty loudly. It also beeps when it’s shutting off, and I think when you press the buttons. It’s not a big problem, but it can get annoying when you’re trying to be quiet.

I think that about sums it up, and if I come across any problems, I’ll update this later.

Tried this machine along with a similarly priced Proform and a used LifeStride. This model definitely offered smoother motion, more realistic action; on the Proform it felt like I was constantly bouncing. Has the right amount of bells/whistles for a model this price. Compared to the next Horizon model up, this one has a shorter stride at 18″; but if you are average height/stride this wont be a problem. It is large, does not fold, but it is super quiet so I can even read while I exercise.

UPDATE! Months later I still love this machine. I am 100% pleased with my purchase.

I have only had this a few days, but I wanted to write a quick review. This is an upgrade of the EX-57 and so far I love it. It was very easy to put together (1.5 hours) and it is very quiet. I am an active exerciser (walking/exercise DVD’s), but I wanted something I could put in front of my television and this fits the bill. And after 30 minutes I am exhausted and feel great, so this is doing the job (cardio).

There are also speakers for your music and a fan which works great!

I am so glad I decided on this rather than the treadmill.

This elliptical trainer was another surprise for us (when you compare with other people’s experiences). When we ordered it we were told it will take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive. The surprise: one week, good packaging again, nothing missing inside, no problem putting it together.
It works the way was meant to work. Good for average exercisers and has a seat to be used as a bicycle. Listed on Amazon for a max of 220 lbs weight for a person, but the manual lists it for 250 lbs max, which is good for me. It is a good construction, no noise, no wobbling.

We bought the Body Champ “Cardio Dual Trainer” for use in our cramped basement and it works nicely for our needs, with the following observations:

Setup -
+ Took my son and I about 1.5 hours to build it from unpacking to plugging it in
+ All parts were included and clearly labeled
+ Although the instructions look daunting, they really were easy to follow
+ Included all of the tools required (screw driver and wrenches), but using a rubber mallet (on Step #3) and adjustable wrench sped the process along

Pros -
+ Versatile; use as a standing elliptical or sitting cycle
+ Effective; provides a good workout in both modes
+ Electronics; monitors heart rate, adjusts intensity, and provides “programed” workout
+ Small Size; takes up about as much space as a traditional stationary bike
+ Affordable; this is a fairly inexpensive choice for a good quality machine

Cons -
- Stride Length; I am 5′ 10″ and find the stride length a little shorter than would normally be natural
- Sturdiness; At 230lbs, I am on the larger side for this machine and find it does wobble a bit at higher intensities

Misc -
* My 5′ 11″ son has very long legs (34″) and finds that the cycle mode is slightly uncomfortable to him, but is fine for me (30″ legs)

This machine was a good choice for us since it has so many important features at a price that was somewhat lower than we expected to pay when first starting to shop for this type of equipment.

Its weight is pretty heavy and is equivalant to any exercise machine you would use at a professional gym. The counter is placed out of the way, between your ankles, so you don’t have to stare at it while exercising (unless you exercise while staring at your ankles) which to me is a plus. Also, the counter only accounts for the actual time you spend exercising, so if you go get a drink of water and return, it self-pauses, which is cool. The machine does occasionally rock slightly from side-to-side during use which I’d imagine could cause injury. Also, the machine doesn’t glide easily during strides as it does on a regular elliptical; it occasionally jolts. This can be jarring, especially if you’re not used to the unusually short strides on this machine. I recommend using this while you have something to stabilize yourself if this happens (I use it in a doorway) Not the best machine out there, but it’s certainly affordable and easy to use, a great purchase for a small space or for someone who wants to be able to stow away exercise equipment easily.

I bought this item for three main reasons: 1 – Low price 2 – Small size 3 – Portability I like the elliptical movement because I have bad ankles, and treadmills and steppers hurt me after a short time working out. I don’t have room for a full-size elliptical machine in my house, and this turned out to be the perfect size. Plus, it’s small size made it easy to move around the house to be where I wanted to use it. I like to work out while watching TV to keep my mind elsewhere and work out longer, and I can pull this machine (about 25lbs) in front of the TV in the living room to watch TV with family (yes, they laugh at me, but it’s worth it), and then pull in front of my bed in the bedroom to watch a chick flick that no one else wants to watch. I even put my elliptical in front of my computer to watch Netflix movies online! It’s easy to carry around. Another great thing is that, because it’s small, it is MUCH cheaper than a regular elliptical machine so, even it it only lasts a year or two, I can buy another one and still have not even come close to half the money I would have spent on a regular machine. Sure, it doesn’t have the arm movement, but I find that no handles makes me work my core by staying balanced (really not very difficult, haven’t ever fallen in the 2 months I’ve had it), and I can even carry small weights to really work my arms while I’m doing the cardio workout of the elliptical. I like the computer that tells you how long you’ve worked out, how many steps you’ve taken, and how many calories you’ve burned. Simple and straightforward. Another great feature: it’s incredibly quiet to use! Very easy to assemble and does a good job for a low price. Some people may have a bit of trouble keeping their balance, but I had no difficulty after a few spins on this — I think trying to maintain balance only enhances the effects of the workout. Small computer does a decent job. Biggest cons would have to be that 1) the range of motion is definitely smaller than on a “real” elliptical and 2) the resistance setting isn’t all that great. All in all, if you have a small place and don’t want to pay $40+/mo for a gym membership, this is a great alternative to running up and down stairs.

I am a regular amazon customer and frequently buy here but somehow for this purchase, I decided to buy from Sole directly. The delivery was not fast, took 10 days but the box was in great shape and the delivery service was good (I paid for the delivery to any room, which I highly recommend if you have to negotiate stairs with this 300 pound box).

The running surface is excellent, my wife is the main user and she has put more than 5 miles a day on this machine at more than 7 miles an hour for 45 days so this thing is getting some great use. The running surface is cushioned well as advertised. The fact that the buttons are set for predefined (4, 6, 8, 10 miles/hr) does not bother me so much but the time it takes to speed up or slow down to the predefined speed is noticeable.

Some of the accessories are funny in my mind. I think adding the fan is kind of unnecessary since it adds little to no benefit. I also think the speakers are of course not excellent quality. I have found the “music pass through” (plug my iphone to the treadmill and then speakers to the headphone jack) to be very useful as I can now control the music while running. The cup holder is in a very awkward position (lower shelf below console), don’t imagine you could actually use this while running.

I have used the heart rate belt with great results and find it very useful but the handlebar heart-rate monitor has not worked for me. I considered calling Sole about this but honestly, you can’t run or even walk comfortably, holding them.

In regards to putting it together, it was not difficult except I had some difficulty getting the plastic covers over the siderails-console) to line up well. I only needed help with moving the running surface out of the box (heavy) and then some help holding the console in place (light) while screwing pieces together. I put it together in less than an hour. I really like the folding mechanism. My 100 pound wife could comfortably raise and lower this with no danger (the lowering is vacuum assisted to prevent it from falling on someone).

Overall:
running surface 4-5 stars (quiet and soft)
controls: 3 stars (awkward set up with some of the settings and time to speed up/down)
accessories: 2 stars (poor location and or poor function)

This is my first treadmill ever, and I was nervous to spend so much money, but all the reviews everywhere (here and on Consumer Reports) said that this one was the best at-home treadmill you could buy. Why buy a cheaper one that will break in a year? You can’t beat the awesome warranty on frame, parts, and even labor. So with peace of mind, I took the plunge and placed my order.

First off it is VERY HEAVY and even my weight-lifting husband had trouble dragging it into the garage. But once, in place, it assembled fairly easily–the trickiest part was the plastic cover pieces–it’s nearly impossible to reach or see the screw holes in some areas–but those are really for looks anyway. I just took my first run on it and I am TRULY IMPRESSED–I have run on treadmills at the gym before, and this is definitely comparable. It is solidly constructed, very stable, has a smooth tread, the interface is nice, and has all the basics you need–speed, incline, time, calorie count, mileage, cup holders galore, plus a few extras like heart monitor handles(and separate chest transmitter), a fan, and the ability to be folded up and rolled away.

There are a few slight downsides if you are used to professional-grade treadmills at gyms, but IMO these don’t take away from the product AT ALL:
-The speakers truly suck, but hey, do you really need speakers on a treadmill? I have an iHome for my iPod and a tv with DVD player nearby, and now a treadmill–what more could I ask for?
-It is a little slower to speed up/slow down and to raise/lower the bed than models I’ve experienced at the gym–but only barely–and there are preset levels for both incline and speed so you can more quickly jump up/down

I am just so happy to own my very own treadmill to keep me going, and I very much look forward to maintaining my running regime over the harsh upstate New York winter, for once. Thanks Sole for making such a great product!

I,like many others, have researched treadmills for a long time (over a year) prior to making a purchase. I had been running at two different gyms, talking to everyone I could (who isn’t a sales person) who purchased a unit, and actually ran on way too many units in stores. Without a doubt the Sole (and model) beat it’s competition.

I picked up my unit from a local store as they had a sale going, making it slightly cheaper. Don’t be fooled by the $500 savings, this model has always been $1,499 anywhere you look.

The box is extremely heavy, but manageable with two adults. The main issue I have with my unit is that several of the plastic trim pieces were broken upon opening the box. I’ve contacted customer service (Sole) and it appears that I can get replacements from them.

Functionally this unit is great. No issues at all while running 8+ MPH, no swaying, no movement at all. The speed and incline do take a bit to get to their settings in comparison to all of the gym machines I’ve been on. I find myself waiting frequently for the speed change to happen.

The only reason I left off the last star is I’d much prefer that the side buttons (for speed / incline) were user defined. I don’t run at any of the speeds the buttons are preset for, so I do not get a 1 touch speed selection. I hit 6, and then go to one of the other speed buttons (below the console or on the arm) and have to hit that 10 times to get to 7. I’d love to see an update that allows me to set the one touch buttons to a speed / incline that I would like.

I did a ton of research online including here at the Amazon site and allellipticals DOT com. This helped me focus my research down to two brands Sole and Smooth. Before visiting stores, my first choice was the Sole E35 Elliptical.

I went to Dick’s Sporting Goods and Sears and tried the machines. The help I got at Dick’s was tremendous. It was a slow night and the salesperson was very generous with her time. They had an E25, E35, E55, and E95 on display. I tried them all and was amazed at the difference in feel. When I left the store, I really wanted to buy the Sole E95 Elliptical. My wife was more adamant than me – she loved the smoothness and heft of the Sole E95 Elliptical.

Tried the Smooth at Sears. Not so good experience. Machines that have sat on a store floor are really a good way to see how they will look and feel after a couple of years in private home. Based on my in-store experience, and the fact that most of the really highly-rated Smooth reviews are two or three years old (versus new reviews highly rating the Sole machines), I decided to by the Sole.

Somewhere in the reviews here on Amazon was a guy who said he found sellers on eBay for the Sole machines. I checked and found one seller who quoted “factory delivery” and a lower price for the Sole E95 Elliptical- lower by $200 than the Dicks / Sole direct / Amazon price. I called Sole and told them I wanted to buy from them, and asked them to match. I added the $100 “deliver to any room” feature – very much worth it as my house is 175′ from the road, and two flights of stairs were involved. When I ordered my machine (direct from Sole), the guy who took my order encouraged me NOT to have the in-home assembly ($140 extra). Being handy, I decided to do it myself.

Product arrived at the ABF depot within a week. They called and were polite and courteous. Ordered on a Monday, and my wife got them to deliver the product within two days – 12 days from order to home delivery total.

Delivery was friendly and professional. Two guys hauled the 260 lb box up the driveway and placed it precisely where we wanted it in the basement. The box had been roughed up in-transit, and my wife asked them to open the box and check. They did this graciously and noted the box damage in case any damage was found subsequently. The drivers said they were the ones who did the in-home assembly. They gave my wife a bunch of tips on how to assemble the machine which she relayed to me.

My wife and I assembled the machine on Saturday, and it took us about 3 hrs. Looks perfect and runs great.

Sole appears to have completely updated the packaging and assembly instructions (based on comments in other reviews). The hardware is now packaged by step, something I have never seen before. So all the little bits you need to assemble “Step 1″ are packaged together in a blister pack. There are four major steps and then half a dozen or so sub-steps inside each. In addition to a master parts list, the instruction manual has a parts listing required for each step. I photocopied the full-sized parts pages (which include pictures) and held that alongside the assembly steps. As an aside, one of the reviews talks about how difficult it is to snake wires through the mast. Appears someone at Sole read this, and they now have a plastic tab preloaded into the mast to aid in snaking the wires through it.

As far as the assembly itself, there are a couple of major component parts such as the rear assembly and mast which are heavy. You really need a second adult. Doing it by yourself would be virtually impossible.
The only part of the assembly I had any trouble with was something which should have been simple – plugging in the five electrical plugs to the back of the console. This is very difficult because the wires are short. If you have large hands, find someone who can help! I ended up using a needle-nose pliers to complete the job. The driver said this was the most difficult part of the assembly – and he was right!
Having done the assembly once, it would take me 90 minutes to do the second one. I took my time, checked and rechecked, so you may do better if you assemble it.

I have completed five work-outs to date. I absolutely love the machine. That I got delivered to my house for just under $1600 ($1499 plus $100 delivery) made it sweeter.

One final note – you definitely need to pay attention to ceiling height. Mine is the basement where my ceilings are 87″ high. I am 5’10″. On this machine, I have 2″ of clearance. Measure first!

I purchased the Sole E95 Elliptical a few weeks ago. The Amazon delivery arrived when scheduled and the service was great. I was a little concerned with the height of the machine. I am 6’2′ and have it located in the basement with 90″ ceilings. I have about 3″ of head clearance with no incline and my hair rubs the ceiling at full incline. The Sole E95 Elliptical is very smooth and the integrated programs are great. I especially enjoy the wireless heart rate strap and the associated workouts. The machine is heavy and the assembly is not difficult but does take some time. I would highly recommend it

I bought the Sole E95 Elliptical about a month ago and so far it has been nothing but wonderful, very smooth and whisper quiet. The Elliptical was delivered by large truck (choose scheduled delivery window), the driver had no problem carting it on a dolly to just inside my door where it would be installed on the basement level. The machine is quite heavy, but makes it very sturdy when using it hard so no complaints there. The assembly was a few hours as i took my time following the instructions carefully, they weren’t too hard to figure out but it would have been nice if they actually put number stickers on the individual parts as they had numbers in the manual, had to match the shape in some instances but not rocket science material folks. As long as you take your time in assembly and lubricate the tracks as mentioned in the manual regularly it should last longer than my previous elliptical. If you are 6ft or taller I would recommend this model for sure, very stable.
